SPC's terms of service have been updated. New rule as follows:
Imitating other users' name and avatar without their consent, including off-server accounts, is not allowed.
We've allowed this for years but it's caused trouble multiple times.

But to be fair, the box art to the original Metal Gear is literally just Kyle Reese from the Terminator. And John Carpenter actually avoided suing Kojima for copying Snake Plissken's look in MG Solid, because he apparently had no problems with Kojima.
So anyway, Razor hates Kojima.

>Because some of the video-taped perpetrators appear to have been Black, some observers immediately reduced anti-Asian violence to Black-Asian conflict. This is not the first time that the trope has been weaponized. Black-Asian conflict—and Black-Korean conflict more specifically—became the popular frame of the LA riots in 1992.
It was a "popular frame" because it was true.
> For Korean immigrant business owners who had little understanding of the brutal history of US race relations, education and experience in Black neighborhoods ushered in a new manner of empathy.
their "lack of understanding of the brutal history of US race relations" is why they couldn't be made to feel guilty for buying guns and defending themselves.
the more time that passes, the easier it is to rewrite history. I was there, I met Koreans and they told me what happened to them.

Razorfist seems to think literally everything based on public domain works is either lazy or of poor quality. His examples of direct-to-video fodder is cherrypicking, of course. I could point to Dracula and then all the good things like Anno Dracula and the Hellsing anime (which are both sequels made by different parties to the same novel), but that would just be tit-for-tat on the cherry picking.
I'd rather just go for the philosophy's jugular and point out the fact that, fundamentally speaking, no idea comes from nothing. Everything is based on what came before it; the good the bad and everything in between.
He can also complain that The Witcher series "ripped off" an earlier series he's fond of, but he doesn't want to take that extra step back and see how that earlier series "ripped off" preceding works.
Copyright-free memes can be used for crafting literary gold nuggets or garbage, but what the public domain is not is "intellectual Marxism".

[email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] I'd say that "open source" is a subversive operation, too. Take a look at who's signing the condemnation letter - especially the organizations - and consider how many of them are rivals or even enemies of free software.
If "open source" and "ethical source" were congruent with the free software movement, why would they schism, let alone define their ideal software in terms incompatible with free software? DT, Brodie Robertson, and Mental Outlaw have already put it well; this is a hit job on a competitor.

@denza252@shitposter.club Most of the western world was too xenophilic, too addicted to international travel, too low social cohesion, and too incapable of performing decent public messaging to ever contain it. I knew the moment they let all those people off the plague cruise ship in NYC that just about the entire nation would get infected.

I don't really like rules against "harassment" and prefer ones based on specific behavior. First of all, because harassment is extremely subjective and in the eye of the recipient. What is normal behavior in one circle (eg massive Hellthreading) is viewed as abusive in another. And second of all, because such rules are easily weaponized. It privileges certain types of people (people with no qualms about playing petty power games) over others. Glenn Greenwald did an article about this. It only works on Fedi because the instances are small enough for the admin to know how the active users mesh with each other. I trust it not to be abused here.

@SnekTheSneaky@neckbeard.xyz It's an acquired taste. But once you acquire it, it's great. Grainy and hoppy, it's like drinking barley bread. It also is hard to drink too fast, it kinda limits your consumption rate to "having fun with friends" instead of "irresponsibly plastered" just by nature of how substantial it is. Which is good and will make you have fewer regrets the day after.
