So modern narratives about him are basically that context amalgamated with modern anti-fascism. To be honest if anything Mosley embracing anti-semitism is what led to his downfall. It SEEMS him being a pariah coincided with that. His party was growing in popularity prior. I think it's possible he was telling the truth when he said Jews (Jewish organizations?) would attack his meetings verbally or otherwise. Maybe him adopting anti-semitism later on was his reaction to this. He embraced it because he noticed most of the people attacking his movement were Jews. But I don't really know the time frame. The problem is it is true that a lot of apologia towards him—including his own statements later on in interviews—heavily downplay his anti-semitism of the 1930's to the degree one can infer he was flat out lying in some cases so who knows. Not saying this to take an anti-Mosley stance but I'm just being intellectually honest. I believe him when he said he didn't condone BUF members going out and attacking random Jewish people. The first British military to die fighting in WWII were in fact BUF members. I also think the whole "he organized a march through a Jewish neighborhood to intimidate them!" is probably propagandist crap, I think they were marching through a bunch of neighborhoods and one full of immigrants & Jews was next on the list. No evidence of the neighborhood being singled out.
