store clerk saying had he just not called the police over floyd trying to pass off counterfeit $20s that floyd’s death could’ve been avoided—that he stays up at night apologizing to floyd media and activists asserting that white people are killing black people by reporting criminals to law enforcement what nobody is saying is that had floyd not been a drugged-up criminal he might still be here today. what nobody is questioning within the aforementioned rhetoric is the insinuation that blacks ought be tolerated in their criminality; that their criminality is somehow justifiable and those who demand law enforcement involvement are somehow racist or culpable/responsible for the “oppression” of blacks
@kino@springbo.cc I get that the argument is "it doesn't matter if Floyd was an immoral person or not it's about the police brutality involved in his arrest.", but see, never mind the ambiguity of it, they're still literally deifying an immoral drug addict with a violent criminal record. People care more about his place in the narrative and not him himself as a person. He represents something. Admittedly this isn't above and beyond what all groups generally do. Regarding the police brutality angle from what I've seen & read fixation on him is arbitrary. Yes we have disproportionately shitty cops absolutely so I'm not per say criticizing this angle, but if it is also true that police brutality happens to black people disproportionately more often than white people you could literally explain this solely on the grounds of blacks committing more crime. This means our disproportionately shitty cops are going to be in black neighborhoods and dealing with black people more often which could solely explain this. Not saying no cops are racist just it feels basically irrelevant to the statistical discrepancy. There's plenty of police brutality incidents negatively effecting whites yet they never have a media flip out over it.

More that that like look at James 2016 clear anti-white bias at least in simulations. Then Cesario 2018 looks at fatal shootings from 2015–2016. When adjusting for crime and population they found no anti-black bias. They found one anti-black bias in our police, in terms of per capita rate of fatal police shootings for Blacks "Overall, the data provide little evidence of systematic anti-Black disparity in officers’ decisions to shoot unarmed, nonaggressing citizens. Officers either showed no meaningful disparity in either direction or, if anything, an overall pattern of anti-White disparity."
@lain_os@yggdrasil.social @kino@springbo.cc Yeah. I think it was in a Ryan Faulk vid I remember learning that in tests cops were more hesitant to fire on blacks likely because they were fearful of being seen as racist. Anyone who is skeptical of this is clearly lying to themselves. Even if we ignore the specifics of being a cop and what is stereotyped of cops, prior to the 2010's even there's a maybe partially unintentional conditioning to mentally associate violence or discrimination towards historically oppressed groups as worse than if the same thing happens to a group that wasn't historically oppressed or at least that we don't mentally associate as such within the narrative. Oswald Mosley is treated like a villainous cartoonish monster in British & western media in general. His life retellings tend to be full of exaggerations and made-up hypotheticals. At most extreme according to his 100 points he advocated revoking Jews of their British citizenship & demoting them to foreign residents so they couldn't participate in British politics. Broad-sweeping anti-semitism? Sure, absolutely. I don't deny that, but is this fundamentally worse than FDR forcing Japanese-Americans into internment camps? Hell, is this worse than Winston Churchill's general bigotry? It's arguably no more racist than what was normal in the west during the time period. It's all just a narrative.

@A5M0VN0kS1ZmTePTGK.Vivernu@springbo.cc @lain_os@yggdrasil.social @kino@springbo.cc Not allowing foreigners to retain positions of power isn't bigotry; it's what all other nations do for maintain self-determination and sovereignty. Jews and Japanese should not be exempt of this.
@antifag@poa.st @kino@springbo.cc @lain_os@yggdrasil.social Well on the flip side I do think compared to typical anglo white supremacy of the time period, advocating that degree of anti-semitism was unprecedented in Britain—to many right-wingers who were a-ok with the imperial project even. So modern narratives about him are basically that context amalgamated with modern anti-fascism. To be honest if anything Mosley embracing anti-semitism is what led to his downfall. It SEEMS him being a pariah coincided with that. His party was growing in popularity prior. I think it's possible he was telling the truth when he said Jews (Jewish organizations?) would attack his meetings verbally or otherwise. Maybe him adopting anti-semitism later on was his reaction to this. He embraced it because he noticed most of the people attacking his movement were Jews. But I don't really know the time frame. The problem is it is true that a lot of apologia towards him—including his own statements later on in interviews—heavily downplay his anti-semitism of the 1930's to the degree one can infer he was flat out lying in some cases so who knows. Not saying this to take an anti-Mosley stance but I'm just being intellectually honest. I believe him when he said he didn't condone BUF members going out and attacking random Jewish people. The first British military to die fighting in WWII were in fact BUF members. I also think the whole "he organized a march through a Jewish neighborhood to intimidate them!" is probably propagandist crap, I think they were marching through a bunch of neighborhoods and one full of immigrants & Jews was next on the list. No evidence of the neighborhood being singled out.
