KawaneRiomisskey.io is probably where this side of fedi should start if they want to start following Japanese accounts. That list is obviously nowhere near complete but if you follow those guys you'll also end up following most of the people who are worth following who don't get followed so much by people around here. I think it's right to say to go for dissimilar instances, or you're just going to get a bunch of people saying "oh yeah obviously I follow mint and pernia."
