I feel like we can trace it all back to the enlargement of the federal government (or the other country equivalent)
Much like other institutions (the church, communities), the feds discovered they could make people more reliant on them (increase their power) by messing up the dynamics. This isn't necessarily overt, but it's always lurking in the hindbrain.

To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.
Everyone will be forgotten eventually, and funerals are for the living, not the dead.
I'm not sure any of it matters. That's not to say it's not important, because you value it, it clearly is, but it's not something you should fear so much that it ruins your ability to do things.
Also for affection and relationships, you have to seek these things out. There's a lot arrayed against people these days, but I don't think it's insurmountable. In the mean time, have more intimate friendships.
