When I called "just reciprocal tariffs" not being enough for reshoring earlier I was a bit optimistic it seems.
What happens if the way you set up the reciprocal tariffs is retarded and does not make sense at all?
Holy shit I can't wait for other countries and the media finding and running with this. Absolutely Epic

Hell, the fundamental point of tariffs is to protect domestic industry and incentivize the restoration of domestic industry. The problem is, the US has no domestic industry that can replace what was offshored, and no longer has the capability to restore it either.
The US replaced industrial giants with financial giants, and spent multiple generations purging its most talented and high-agency people from all related professions, and thus no longer has the institutional knowledge or expertise required to rebuild domestic industry.
On top of that, none of the regulatory roadblocks have been removed either, so even if we had well-capitalized industrial giants with a pool of superb engineers at their disposal, ready to go day one, they'd still never be able to get a single project off the ground in any rapid fashion.
Before we worried about tariffs, we had to deal with all these issues, and instead we're cargo culting in the belief that placing tariffs just summons domestic industry into existence.

@BobsonDugnuttHB@poa.st @MechaSilvio@poa.st Anecdotally, I'm seeing wood product manufacturing moving domestic from China. There's a lot of basic stuff that is relatively easy to move back in short order, computer chips and cars will take years of course.
