BOTW taught me that no matter how good gameplay looks and how much people hype something up you should never spend more than $20 on a videogame

@sharutiaburaddofouren@cawfee.club Windwaker frustrates me so much because its such a good game otherwise, its got great art, great storyline, great music, and second best princess and they still managed to flub it super hard by giving it a 24 step triforce collection quest THAT YOU HAVE TO DO ALL AT THE END. I didn't even mind the combat all that much, it felt like Twilight Princess but beta and I really enjoyed TP's combat

@sharutiaburaddofouren@cawfee.club I legitimately have yet to finish Wind Waker, I got to the "we're pushing out three Tingle games for this generation so you have to deal with him" quest line and noped out. I was able to tolerate the endless days of sailing between islands to get to somewhat decent gameplay and a pretty good storyline, but there was no way I was doing 8 finds just to do 8 more finds.

Then you had to remind me of the triforce shards, which I'd apparently created some kind of mental block around. It's all a blur now.

@Type_Other@poa.st @sharutiaburaddofouren@cawfee.club Don't mistake me, I love pretty much everything else about WW, as I said. Great art, great story, phenomenal soundtrack (probably the best overall in the series) and second best princess behind midna. Fucking triforce shards.

@Type_Other@poa.st @sapphire@poa.st there is also no point to exploration because there's nothing to be gained from collecting treasures, so sailing to new locations is in and of itself the "reward" which if sailing weren't just 95% sitting on your ass watching a screen barely change scenery in an ocean far too large in comparison to island sizes and had some combat, interesting lore and locales then I'd agree with the exploration defense but that is tedious too. The game is practically 3 hours if you cut the featureless sailing, grinding for rupees to translate charts and gathering triforce shards, and even then the combat amount to waiting to press the A button when it tells you to and suddenly winning the fight. Boss battles at least were good, and hyrule had some intrigue. But WW has some real lost potential, and I see some people talk about it but give the game unwarranted praise

@sharutiaburaddofouren@cawfee.club @Type_Other@poa.st The only thing I disagree with is Ocarina of Time, while dated, was still a phenomenal game. It hits a lot different when you play it alongside other N64 titles that have aged like vinegared milk and while it does take second chair to Majora's Mask as I get older, a lot of what makes MM great is still in Ocarina. I won't sit here and suck dick for it though, it definitely aged hard, but so did EVERY GAME ON THE N64 unless you have a nostalgia boner or really like breaking things wide open

The kinds of people that do are the kinds that have short attebtion soans and won't watch mauler's vids on it and his reaponse to hbomberpedo so what chance do any of us have even explaining small things like how there are only 12 points of movement instead of 360 degrees in a fugging 3D game with sluggish controls and 4 times the amount of precise platforming of the previous which should have had NONE in the first place
