I've been streaming a bit with #Owncast and #OBSStudio and also recording the same video to use as VODs. But those video files of course don't include any kind of live chat replay. Is there a way to make some format of self-hosted VODs available with live chat replay? Boosts welcome!

starlight what do you use for live chat display in stream? afaik, the chat can also opened as a standalone window, so you could include that as a source in your obs setup but i think [email protected] can help you out with that way better than i can

puniko [email protected] For now I've just left everything as default and used whatever live chat that Owncast comes with out of the box-- I haven't researched it at all, or for that matter what options exist within OBS.

@puniko@mk.absturztau.be [email protected] @starlight@mk.absturztau.be yeah you can use /embed/chat/readonly to add a chat to your OBS scene as a browser source probably the easiest way with the caveat that it'd be there in the livestream too

@tlapka@ak.kawen.space @puniko@mk.absturztau.be [email protected] That sounds like it would reliably work, altho it is unfortunate that it will take up extra screen real estate, particularly for games like Space Station 14 which has a lot of stuff going on all over the screen I'll test it out and see how it looks.
