I watched that old Dr. Phil episode on Quiet Quitting, and holy shit, one Luigi wasn't enough! All these scumbag employers demanding that their workers be happy slaves, and complaining about them having the NERVE to prioritize life outside of work and, *Gasp*, only do the job they get paid to do! I kinda viewed Quiet Quitting as stuff like taking 2-hour lunch breaks, maximizing you toilet time and browsing your favorite sites whenever you get the chance, but it was literally defined as 1) not working unpaid overtime, 2) not doing work outside of your job description, and 3) not answering work emails outside of work hours. Or in other words, DOING YOU FUCKING JOB LIKE A NORMAL FUCKING PERSON!

A former employer would forbid me from taking vacation and expect me to come in sick. I was hard down with the flu and he wanted a fucking Dr's note if you are out for two days. So I came in and got several people sick (riding in a Suburban with 3 other people all day) and othe crew members.

@Chzikken_1486@poa.st At that point we're no even talking about chasing profits at the expense of human considerations anymore, some of this abuse of employees simply seems to be the work of power-tripping, sadistic tyrants.

The boomers caused all of this. Gotta have butts in seats so they can crush your soul because they married some bitch and their lives are miserable.

@ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com they really love to cut corners which is fucking stupid because in the long run that type of descision will ruin your business corpos really want to just rule over everything without taking any responsability or put in any effort to make things grow, thinking they desserve everything because of some stupid papers they have i really despise them

@Chzikken_1486@poa.st The seething and resentment that Remote Work causes among these people is very revealing.

@ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com The funny thing is these assholes treat you shittier if you put up with it. If you want to be seen as β€œsenior” you have to not be afraid of getting fired and you have to push back even if silently through your actions. I used to walk off on the job when I was put in a position to not be able to resolve the situation by policy and quitting time rolled around. I got called to the carpet over it a couple of times and said the policy was impossible and I’d have been obligated to be on the bridge for three months straight if I’d stayed until the policy were satisfied because of a change freeze. Fire me if you want. They backed down immediately. If you were wondering it was a malfunctioning nonproduction resource for a β€œcritical” category of server leading into a freeze for the holiday season. It wasn’t technically even in nonproduction service yet and its completion wouldn’t be permitted until mid January at the end of a freeze but some asshole added it to the alerts and we weren’t allowed to fix that list because change freeze. Fuck that. @Chzikken_1486@poa.st

@ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com The funniest thing about remote work is they keep taking away tools that work and give us ones that don’t. This is not an accident. @Chzikken_1486@poa.st

Part of the reason that I wasn't much impressed with Trump and Elon ending it for government employees. Means more traffic and money flowing right back into blue urban shitholes and transit. And.... The local Democrat politicians in these cities were praising the move so you get the idea of who is benefiting.

@leespringfield1903@poa.st @Chzikken_1486@poa.st It's definitely Trump's Boomer side and Elon's evil corporate overlord side on full display.

@leespringfield1903@poa.st For a lot of government jobs it makes sense. But most government jobs don’t make sense. This is what you get when you put geriatrics and control freaks in charge. Hi Donald and Elon. @ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com @Chzikken_1486@poa.st

It's the product of "quarterly thinking." Every fiscal quarter HAS to end with line go up, or else the CEO loses his job. The CEO likes his job, and so ensures be only makes decisions that make line go up. Decisions that make line go up are short term, eat-the-seed-corn decisions. They do not benefit the business in the long term, they in fact harm the business. However, good, long term decisions are likely to make line go down for a quarter (or even TWO!), and if line does not go up for two quarters, CEO goes bye bye. CEO, of course, does not want to go bye bye. There will be no prioritization of long term health of a business as long as the system of quarterly fiscal reporting continues, as there is no incentive for a non-founding CEO to do anything beyond maximize his payout when he inevitably goes bye bye.

Working in an industry full of boomers you quickly learn that a lot of their behavior develops from a desire to boss people around and feed their own ego. A new guy entering the industry isn't someone to train up and build a connection with, maybe even to have long term. He's someone to be taken advantage of as much as possible payed as little as possible and to have as much as possible demanded of. Nothing has solidified my hatred of boomers quite as much as working alongside them.

They regard any rational self interest as a red flag that they can't extract free labor. They want nothing but delusional strivers. Frank Grimeys not Homer Simpsons.
Reply to @[email protected]
@judgedread@poa.st Even Grimey eventually stood up for himself, as poorly as that might have worked out. He also realized that he deserved better - an inexcusable sense of entitlement according to these people.

Elon does unironically dislike remote work but doing this tactically as a way to get rid of government employees was a good thing and it worked.

Homer's contempt for hard work is one of the few remnants of Groening's actually controversial views that survived from Life in Hell into The Simpsons. Even his anti-public school perspective gets diluted by season two.

@JedKron1248@poa.st @ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com @rlier23@detroitriotcity.com Don't forget; what happens when the urge to make the line go up is so intense that you gotta fake it. Just look at the Nortel scandal and other famous accounting scandals, like the one where a company shipped pallets of bricks instead of product.

@kvit@poa.st @ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com Not only that, boomers and certain other demographics also see you not as a coworker, but as a competitor. You're not working as a team, you're working as rivals. So they will scheme to sabotage you and force you to quit so they can have their job where they live like a king.

I'm kinda thankful that i don't get bugged during my time off in this gig, but the fact that i put around 70 hours every week in this job is fucking grueling. I've been working 7 weekends in a row so far and the thing that pisses me off more than anything is that if i work more hours than normal i don't get paid more but if there are holidays cutting days from work during a month, i get paid less. No wonder in driving school they told me that only retards and masochists get the bus license. Around here, in Spain, you can expect bosses to demand you do the job of 3 different people while earning the salary of 1. More people need to get brutally killed along with their families

Yall niggas should unionize. I worked 21 hours yesterday, 4 of them at double time and the rest at time and a half. If I told them to fuck off im not working Saturday, nothing would have happened to me. Imagine passing this up and working for a rat shop over not wanting to pay 3% union dues (on a wage that's already ~15% higher than most non union shops around here)

@poastoak@poa.st @Morghur@decayable.ink @ChristiJunior@detroitriotcity.com from my understanding it's not even the dues most don't like unions for. It's them sticking their nose into your personal shit. Like who you vote for and telling you "you are going to vote this way, we are donating ______ to this political party/cause , using collected dues. We stand with this ideologue, and if you don't like it, too bad, you will go with it or you are out." That's what people don't like. That's what I've heard members of my family that worked union bitch about. The political stuff and being leaned on like there will be "consequences" if they don't toe the line and do as they are told.
