Imagine playing on easy nowadays???? Games are generally so easy, you have to put them on hard to have what used to be normal mode I couldn't even imagine how easy easy is

@coolboymew@shitposter.club I mean being fair they don't even game most of them are just either tit streamer or entretainers or both, the meme of twitch being a gaming platform is long over, what matters more is it being a timesink, so plain entertainment is more valuable than actual gaming not mentioning that also games nowadays are shit for so many reasons.
@coolboymew@shitposter.club games shouldn't even offer easy

@coolboymew@shitposter.club sometimes you just want content tour mode or never want to deal with bullshit or repetitive mechanics. Twitch streamers should be mocked for many things, including being twitch streamers, but playing on easy mode? just watch some other permanently unemployed neet play the game if you're offended.

@coolboymew@shitposter.club What is easy mode
Reply to @[email protected]
@coolboymew@shitposter.club honestly most games are so bad at difficulty all you end up doing is repeating scenes until you have memorized them or get lucky enough, I don't see a point in a higher setting. Devs just scale up the numbers until gameplay suffers.

@coolboymew@shitposter.club DOS game Hard was the polar opposite. The DOS game era was the only acceptable time to play on Easy.
@coolboymew@shitposter.club The Twitch thot who was the first to whine about this of course had preferred pronouns in the Twitter bio.
@coolboymew@shitposter.club why are they letting themselves be shamed in the first place? the streamers i watch, they admit when they want to play a non-challenging game
[email protected] @cereal@shitposter.club @coolboymew@shitposter.club It really depends on the game: In modern Fire Emblem games, Normal mode is generally Easy Mode, and a game like Fire Emblem Awakening is really easy even on Hard if you play it the way its meant to and just really go all in on making a handful of Units (Robin especially) super overpowered. In The Wonderful 101 meanwhile I feel that Easy mode is essentially Normal mode, it's the only game in recent memory I've played on Easy, and that was comparable to playing the Bayonetta games on Normal. Xenoblade 2 and Astral Chain are both really easy on Normal once you gain a decent understanding of their combat systems, but their highest difficulty mode is just a bit too brutal for me, you just get nerfed in so many critical ways while also dealing with stronger enemies. I really wished games like that had a mode between Normal and those highest difficulty settings. Thankfully at least Xenoblade 2 has an option to let you customize the difficulty, which is what I did on my last playthrough. I've also been playing Bravely Default 2 recently, and had to go from Normal to Hard after coming up with a super-strong build for Adelle that really abused Godspeed Strike and just Deleted bosses from existence. Even on Hard, the bosses can't really deal with that build, even without special prep and the other characters just leveling up different Jobs of their own. As a general rule of thumb, if you can only handle a game on Easy, you really lack a fundamental understanding of how the game works, unless the game itself really is that hard (which is very rare nowadays). Twitch streamers also get tons of tips from the chat and their mods as well, so their first playthrough of a game is if anything easier than the first playthrough of most people.

@ChristiJunior@freespeechextremist.com [email protected] @cereal@shitposter.club @coolboymew@shitposter.club The last couple of bosses on Bringer Of Chaos are pretty rough even in New Game+, but it felt rewarding to beat them.

@coolboymew@shitposter.club Depends, the original Doom, I played on ultra-violence and found it really easy. Now for Touhou, as a westerner I tried playing it on hard but got stuck at stage 4
@ArdanianRight@freespeechextremist.com [email protected] @cereal@shitposter.club @coolboymew@shitposter.club I've done a bunch of Challenge Mode missions on BoC, the hardest I beat was Serious Showdown, and only thanks to Corvin. Before that I'd mostly been using agility builds with Shulk and Mythra.

Like, thinking about it In the NES and Arcade era before that, try taking these games and putting them on Easy, you'll still have a bad time a lot of the times Now Hard mode barely cuts it. Had to put DQXI on Hard for it to not be braindead. Aterlier Ryza, apparently even Hard mode is easy. Fire Emblem Three Houses gave me not all that much problems on Hard other than one end game map that really was going for my neck But then the problem is that "Ver hard", "Lunatic" or whatever comes after is often unlocked only after the game, but it's a difficulty that's too hard and is made for people who already know everything about the game In a way it's kind of telling on how Dark Souls and co got so popular. Games are generally so easy nowadays that a game being unapologetically hard, with no easy mode, becomes a novelty Altho', generally easy games can be fun. Yoshi Island and co (100% that gives some level of challenge tho') and Kirby games, because they're FUN. But then, with other titles like Yoshi Crafted World, the game is so easy it's braindead and not fun at all

@einziggurat@shitposter.club I dunno man I saw a news article that the new Final Fantasy is going to offer a "story difficulty mode", some guy that used to have time to play JRPGs says "This is great, I don't have time for these anymore" and it's like... Why not play anything else if you're just gonna go ahead and skip the entire game It's like destroying the entire game's raison d'être. JRPGs are fun because of the slow progress and the feeling of accomplishment along with the carrot on a stick letter you know what happens next. Remove that and you get ... Very little honestly. Might as well go play Mario Odyssey or any other genre
[email protected] @cereal@shitposter.club Well, a lot of games nowadays have Hard mode being what used to be normal mode
@collappsar@kiwifarms.cc yeah, things changes. NES era and below, Arcade era. Try playing any of that on Easy and you'll still get wrecked
@coolboymew@shitposter.club Back when men were men.
@wowaname@anime.website I think there's a significant difference between wanting to play an easy/not terribly challenging game, and the whole journos shtick of "Easy modes are important" where they keep harassing Dark Souls to include one

@coolboymew@shitposter.club @einziggurat@shitposter.club I miss the old school JRPGs from the SNES era with good stories and the games weren’t 90% cinematic. In my opinion Final Fantasy 6 was the pinnacle of the genre and its been down hill ever since.
@coolboymew@shitposter.club @amnesiac@poa.st And they do it because THEY suck at games. And they suck at games because they really don't have any passion for gaming. Never forget the game journalist who got stumped by the Cuphead tutorial.
Reply to @[email protected]
@ChristiJunior@freespeechextremist.com @amnesiac@poa.st no idea. I wouldn't be surprised tho' This game journos shtick of wanting to promote easy modes really pisses me off because braindead easy games are seriously boring a lot of the times So it's game journos advocate something bad for games again

@astatine@neckbeard.xyz @einziggurat@shitposter.club I agree. FF went in a really bad direction IMO. Just, too cinematics for it's own good, too over the top in your face compared to how the older snes games felt Personally, Xenoblade is the new FF series
@ChristiJunior@freespeechextremist.com @coolboymew@shitposter.club @amnesiac@poa.st They're failed journos who are too retarded to even work for CNN.
@coolboymew@shitposter.club @astatine@neckbeard.xyz @einziggurat@shitposter.club Of the post-SNES FF games I've played, I actually really loved FF7, thought FF10 was really overrated, and really like FF12 - but FF12 fundamentally is an inferior, earlier version of Xenoblade 1 (and with Xenoblade 2 handling the balance between character-driven story and the overarching politics of the world much better than FF12 did).
Reply to @[email protected]
@ChristiJunior@freespeechextremist.com @amnesiac@poa.st they mostly do it because journos have begun being lazy and go with the path of the least resistance so that the game will be over with They should be fired if they do that shit and have the next excited generation take over instead. Unless you actually have the passion (Jeremy Parish, TotalBiscuit and the likes), game journos should be a McDonald type of job where you eventually move on, not a career
@coolboymew@shitposter.club I dont have much hope for FF16, i would try it on pc if it comes out but im not buying a ps5 I unironically really liked the complete version of FFXV tho @astatine@neckbeard.xyz @einziggurat@shitposter.club

[email protected] @einziggurat@shitposter.club Nope I like grinding I restarted DQXIS at the desert town because the game was dead easy and none of the dungeon were even threatening I put it at hard and less exp for easy fights NOW that was perfect. Dungeons were actually threatening and bosses kept wrecking me

@coolboymew@shitposter.club [email protected] @einziggurat@shitposter.club some games make grinding interesting though. I like the grind in Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1. Also it had a great story.
[email protected] @cereal@shitposter.club @coolboymew@shitposter.club I hate games that the higher difficulty settings just nerf your damage while upping enemy damage. It's just the same game except more annoying. The original Halo game had fun difficulty. Like the flood was crazy rampant when you got to that part. The enemy accuracy increased drastically. It wasn't just more shots to kill.

[email protected] Yeah... There's a significant differences between NES hard JRPGs tho' Like Dragon Quest 1 on Nes is like 30 hours of pure grinding lol. I did it a few years ago These truly are for the most hardcore of fans nowadays I've found the Phantasy Star series to have a really nice grinding/exploration balance (Still grindy tho'). Especially 2 with it's labyrinthine "layers of hell" where you need to find the right holes to drop from to advance in the dungeon. You advance little by little and meanwhile you get your necessary levels
[email protected] @coolboymew@shitposter.club @einziggurat@shitposter.club I hated the grind in FF11 because you couldn’t get past certain levels without looking for groups. Sometimes that sucked and sometimes it was fun depending on the groups.
