In other words forget about ever owning a house in my life. But I already knew that I'm doomed to die a rentoid.

You have to lower your standards. Cities like Covington,KY are working with people to fix up vacant homes. Find a city near you. Most of these are 1-2 bed, 1 bath shotgun style homes. Many are historical. Loan assistance is given. The city is tired of maintaining these properties. It's a start!

I don't have any standards at all. I'd gladly live in a studio apartment to save a $100 bill or two. I'm just sad I'll never fully experience grown-up life, is all. I've accepted it, but it still makes me sad. I try not to think about it.
