Russia offering asylum for right wing dissidents persecuted in the west.
If this is genuine then this gives lower-skilled right wing people an exit out of the US - presenting a path to a better life for *all* decent people other than revolution. Higher-skilled people can go elsewhere in the world and get a job, and with this it's just true that anyone can pack their bags and get out. Russia isn't a better place than the US if you're skilled, but it *is* a better place than the US if you have limited skills.

This happens pretty often in the US as it stands. I guess the question is, how often does that actually happen in Russia?

The UK will jail you for 5 years for facebook posts and in Canada they're about to pass a law that will jail people for life for saying hurty racists words online.
Eastern Europeans exist on fedi. I'm sure there's got to be a few Russians. Why don't we just go and ask them? I don't know any offhand, but surely someone knows at least one.

It's firey kneejerk reactions like this that make it difficult to sit down and actually think about it, right? Downthread someone points out that Russia's going to expect you to go fight in Ukraine if you do this. This is obviously worse than being stuck in the US, where if you're stuck fighting a civil war you will at least be fighting for your own thing. You come to conclusions like this by talking it out with your bros, not by slinging insults at friendly people.
