It sucks (not really) that Discord will inevitably get enshittified soon, but it sucks even more that there are no good open source alternatives to Discord. Matrix is just way too slow for me to recommend to normies. The only decent option is IRC+Mumble, but that is obviously not going to pick up. The other option is TeamSpeak, which is closed source.

@ainsworth@tsundere.love No real change is going to happen because Discord has been around for 10 years and has been solidified in the internet sphere. And as Elon has demonstrated with his little stunt back in 2022 no matter how bad a service becomes people are going to eat tons of shit until the day the service dies.

That's pretty much free lunch for someone like me with 25 something accounts but most people don't want to make a Roblox account. Plus the Roblox moderation team sucks and so who knows how they're going to enforce guilded tos
