Hey nii-chan, ever wonder if there's a ton of black people who love watermelon but are afraid to buy it at the supermarket because they fear everyone's either snickering to themselves for them affirming the stereotype or judging you because they're not one of the race conscious woke blacks? Nii-chan, who reinforces the watermelon stereotype more, actual racists or the people seeing racism in every place watermelons and blakkies coexist? Nii~cha~n!
@moth_ball@shitposter.club this threw me back I did actually see a vlog from a republican black man where he said he got a dirty look from another black man for buying watermelon in summer
@moth_ball@shitposter.club watermelon is good tho watermelon for everyone

@oxblood@freespeechextremist.com It's like the scene from Snowpiercer where everyone's rioting and there's a shot of a rather nutritious black woman yelling "WE WANT CHIKEN". The plausible deniability is delicious.

@moth_ball@shitposter.club they aren't that self-conscious - you're projecting your way of thinking onto them

@billiam@shitposter.club I'm really not. Where I live, the stereotypes concerning local minorities are completely different, so I only know the watermelon thing from memes and seeing stuff with blacks and melons taken down for being racist. I just figured that it's probably a common enough stereotype that the people targeted by it often know about it themselves too. Kindf of like how I might be afraid of looking like a neckbeard when I engage in neckbeard hobbies.
