whats so wrong about akkoma

@9@kill-corporations.enterprises objectively speaking it removes cool features and adds in new weird ones, they limited the mrf pipeline to just a few things for some reason which completely broke blockbots. it's just a random person's weird pleroma 2.4 fork with his own weird desires.

@9@kill-corporations.enterprises now back to opinion based bickering: the only reason people use Akkoma is because of an extremely old culture war which ended with pleromas reputation being permanently damaged. Mr. ghost was like "this is fucked" and decided to fork in the name of not satisfying the freeze peach boys

@9@kill-corporations.enterprises the blockbots probably weren't the best example considering some people's opinions on them, so we could look at something else like the shoutbox and chats instead, both got the axe because the developer thought they were poorly implemented and didn't belong in pleroma. was a pretty pointless removal

@nyanide@lab.nyanide.com @9@kill-corporations.enterprises true, also want to add on that the best features of akkoma ended up in mainstream pleroma, like emoji reactions & stuff. so there used to be more of an argument to use akkoma, but in the current day & age its not very different (qol, no shoutbox, stuff like that)

@fiore@brain.worm.pink @9@kill-corporations.enterprises @amalthea@pl.noob.quest pleroma fe and akkoma fe were very similar for some time as pleroma appeared to be in a state of development limbo up until late 2023, then bam bam new features and later an entirely redone themes system which apparently forced the frontend to have a fucking loading screen. interface design of both is still very similar though.
