Take a look at who's signing the condemnation letter - especially the organizations - and consider how many of them are rivals or even enemies of free software.
If "open source" and "ethical source" were congruent with the free software movement, why would they schism, let alone define their ideal software in terms incompatible with free software? DT, Brodie Robertson, and Mental Outlaw have already put it well; this is a hit job on a competitor.
