✅ Really, really good. I was surprised by the quality of literature in my country. I had only read the big 3 and a few other books that cleansed those famous books easily. Oviedo was the author of one of those, and here he compiled some short stories by plenty of important authors. It's a great introduction to actual literature and not just political pandering--despite the fact that many stories here are political. I'm hoping I can find the Poetry Anthology, which is something that I haven't really enjoyed from here. The closest (and my favorite) poet is Rubén Dario, who is a neighbor from the south. Very good read. Recommended for anyone, really.

New gets. My collection is growing. This pile is just the books waiting on queue. As soon as I finish with Gentleman in Moscow I'll move to Don Quixote, which is the thickest one at the bottom. Then I'll try reading more authors from my country. 4/7 books I bought were picked up out of hatred towards a certain author. My father keeps arguing our most recognized novelist (a journalist passing as one) is not a piece of shit. So now I'll read 3 more books from him to double my count, just to prove the trend that he doesn't actually write literature and that it's mostly pure propaganda. Of course I'll also balance it out by doing the same with my favorite writer and a few others that seem promising.

I feel bad because I have a recent mutual who is clearly feeling down and desperate for affection, so much so that he's mentioned suicide several times. That's very extreme, and I don't know how serious he's being, but I want to make him at least feel like someone understands the struggle and can still have hopes for him. Like I know challenging him won't help. It doesn't help with me, it only forces one to adopt more complex and elaborate sophistry in order to explain what is essentially pure sensibility. And for the most part I agree with everything he says--to me it makes perfect sense, which I know he can tell. He's acknowledged that I can put his thoughts more succinctly. I simply don't wish for anyone to harm themselves or anyone else as a coping mechanism. Let's hope a little company can help.

A friend of mine seems disappointed and even upset that I went for a hooker, and it's just awkward, but I don't know if he can really call me out on this. Not because he would do it, instead because he is willfully turning himself into a schizophrenic on some unrelated note.
