@Type_Other@poa.st @tengumatingpress@poa.st Omae can definately be rude, but as always it depends on who is using it and who they're addressing. In general omae is perfectly fine to use among friends or with siblings. But yeah I think the reason it gets simplified to just being considered a rude word is cause people hear it in anime whenever the MC is yelling at the villain or whatever.

@tengumatingpress@poa.st Each language has it's own fascinating idiosyncracies. I find Japanese to be one of the most unique in that it forces you to state how you want to be percieved by others just by which pronouns you use when referring to yourself/others. Like how a man wanting to seem polite and unassuming would use 'boku', but a more gruff or imposing man would use 'ore'.

@tengumatingpress@poa.st I think "commited suicide" is about as neutral as you can get. Mostly I think this is a result of how english as a language is built. In languages like Japanese or my own native Estonian the term is literally translated just "self-killing"

@Insomnolant@poa.st @tengumatingpress@poa.st My mind has a tendency to focus on morbid things, I suppose.

@tengumatingpress@poa.st @Insomnolant@poa.st I guess it's kind of up to interpretation as to which would be a worse way to go. Dragonfire probably burns pretty hot so I imagine being engulfed would be relatively quick compared to say getting bitten in half and the slow build up to said bifurcation.

@tengumatingpress@poa.st @Insomnolant@poa.st Kitsune Spirit is pretty cute, each chapter is generally only a couple pages long and focuses a lot on wholesome husband and wife stuff, but recently there's been an attempt by the author to add some more action as well

@Insomnolant@poa.st @tengumatingpress@poa.st I can imagine some more ruthless generals using the threat of getting bitten in half as a particularly cruel and terrifying method of execution.

@tengumatingpress@poa.st @Insomnolant@poa.st Out of stuff that still ongoing there's a couple I keep up with like Ane Naru Mono and Kitsune Spirit.

@Insomnolant@poa.st @tengumatingpress@poa.st Really if you want good monstergirl content, you gotta keep an eye out on the manga scene. There's a lot more stuff out there compared to anime

@mkultra@poa.st @CosmaruCiorilor@poa.st @puuyo@poa.st Most monstrous? If we're talking MGE then I have to say Atlach-Nacha
Has there ever been a work in a particular medium/genre that so affected you that it basically ruined your enjoyment of other works in that medium/genre? For me it's Utawarerumono Mask of Deception + Mask of Truth which blew me away so much that I cannot enjoy other visual novels to this day. Everything else just seems subpar in comparison
Goodnight, I return to my slumber.

@natsock@pleroma.nobodyhasthe.biz @RoyalJohnny242@poa.st yeah. If I had to put the message concisely it would be: "Living life means painful things will happen, but you can get through them anyway."

@tengumatingpress@poa.st @takao@shitposter.club The only aspect I think can be fairly criticized as somewhat pretentious is the series' usage of Christian imagery.

@RoyalJohnny242@poa.st @natsock@pleroma.nobodyhasthe.biz I think it's depressing in a more fleeting way. The series ends with a message that is honestly very uplifting.

@tengumatingpress@poa.st I've always thought it was strange how NGE has garnered this reputation as a 2deep4u anime when all of it's themes and message are presented in a really straightforward way. I mean hell, in the last few minutes of EoE the Shinji/Rei/Kaoru monologue straight up sums up the entire thing in a few sentences.
End of Evangelion is probably one of the most perfect conclusions to a series I've ever seen.
