@blueknightfrank@varishangout.net Sakurai Keiwa is the goat.
@MKFenris@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net Keiwa is cool, I just recently got back to the Jyamato ball episode where he gets that cool moment where his helmet gets cracked open right before scoring the winning goal
@supersid333@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net they did my boy so dirty. Doesn't get a big win, doesn't get the girl, just kinda goes a different way at the end.
@MKFenris@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net I feel it, Michinaga gets shafted a bit too considering they ended up scrapping his final form until the Doom Geats movie (though Jyamashin Fever Zombie is a cool design).
@supersid333@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net my problem with Geats is, Ace feels like a Gary Stu, and the show just constantly sucks his dick. He's a terrible protagonist because all way through he's selfish and would have doomed the world because of his mommy issues.
@MKFenris@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net I mean, his "mommy issues" are more accurately described as him trying to unravel the connection between his mother, his immortality, and the DGP conspiracy that seems to be wrapped around it. I don't mind him being a character that doesn't change so much because his plot is more related to the supernatural intrigue attached to him, and he makes it up by being a vessel of positive change for the other characters around him. Up into the point of him making the Fantasy and Plosion Rage buckles for the side characters using their wishes.
@supersid333@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net Fair, just could have been written better. This is the problem with Yuuya Takahashi running a show, he just assumes he can wrap it all up in movies.
@MKFenris@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net I won't disagree. The Jyamato Grand Prix arc while a really good one for Buffa didn't do much to advance the arcs of Nago and Tycoon which makes the story have to scramble to get them up to speed for where they're supposed to be for final arc. Tycoon in particular since his villain arc definitely could gotten more time to setup. All in all I really like Geats though, it does well enough to keep the plot moving and it ultimately pays off well enough (I absolutely love that the clip of Tsumuri shooting Geats from the OP is the premise for the final episode for example.)
@supersid333@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net some interesting lore though is, Rinne's actor from Gotchard had auditioned for Beroba, and it shows her menhera game was a bit too strong. Because in the Gotchard Spinoff she was a Menhera and wew she made Beroba seem sane.
@MKFenris@varishangout.net @blueknightfrank@varishangout.net Gotchard is a mess overall, which is a shame. All of the smaller episodes about Chemys interacting with humans like Saboneedle, X-Rex, and Ninetail's arcs were really nice and charming. Then the episodes where actual plot happened were a mess with things like Super Gotchard immediately being traded out for Fire Gotchard immediately being traded out for Iron/Platina Gotchard in quick succession or Rinne's dad appearing, immediately dying without saying anything, and then having characters wander up to him without elaboration 10 episodes later as if he hadn't dramatically died on screen. That being said it was an overwhelmingly positive show with a good lead and supporting cast. I could see myself rewatching the small chemy arcs and the geats movie, but not much else from it despite me wanting to like it.
