>grandma's senile dementia is getting worse by the day
>constantly on edge, ready to scream and sperg out at any time, 10x more insufferable than before, the TV is her entire world but she pretends she forgot how to use the remote for attention so you have to babysit her all day
>this is the perfect time to get a new dog according to my mother
>said yes to avoid triggering a nervous breakdown
>already regretting it but the dog will be here in an hour
I think I just ruined a dog's life

mental stimulation keeps the mind from rotting
tv rots the brain
she should go on walks with the dog

@Xeraser@varishangout.net oh noโฆitโs not really good to force an animal onto someone as a giftโฆreal bad for the animal, itโs a living thing that needs responsible raisingโฆwhy are women like this?

@professionalbigot69@poa.st grandma stopped going out last year, she can't walk autonomously anymore and she hates dogs

my grandma went on walks, barefoot, and got lost
dementia is really messed up, it really turns people into real zombies, the lights are on but nobody is home

yeah, at that point we could no longer let her live by herself, since I was a NEET at the time it ended up being my job to look after her while mom and dad were at work

That's more or less what I've been doing since last November

@Xeraser@varishangout.net oh ok I thought it was similar to something I knew. Still seems like a rough time, but Iโm sure itโll be fine.

In our case it went on only for a couple of months if I recall correctly. We moved her to an elderly day care which might have been too stressful of a change for her since she passed away within a couple of weeks. I still feel guilty about it but at the same time I remember how difficult it was dealing with her on my own.

@BitterPill@poa.st @professionalbigot69@poa.st we can't move her, shit costs way too fucking much

I can only imagine. I didn't ask my parents how much it cost us but it couldn't have been anything insane else we couldn't afford it. However, I'm pretty sure the conditions in those places really end up being a case of you get what you pay for. There's just no good solution here, a loved one with dementia is just suffering for everyone until they eventually die.
