I am sick of living in a world where 'cancelling people' is a thing. I can't help but to have a biased view when someone throws accusations at someone.

@Craftplacer@fedi.absturztau.be I am sick of living in a world where its considered "normal" that people harass women and minorities The only way to denormalise this is to cancel people that behave in that way and don't see their wrongdoing and neither stop it forever nor seriously apologise for it (which you'd have to do both obviously)

I just want them to shut up, and yet, I don't have a filter for people I don't care about. Of course, I am against discrimination, but I can't help to lose value after hearing so much shit...

@Craftplacer@fedi.absturztau.be [email protected] oh there is definitely a difference there Luna isn't a known women harasser for instance and she got cancelled over one single post that people got in the wrong way for whatever reason That was toxic It's not toxic to cancel a known harasser that doesn't stop to harass women at conferences and at the MIT that's known to throw out an endless amount of toxic statements that not only "can get taken in a wrong way" but are inherently problematical and not okay. I wish you'd see the difference there..

And then seeing all that crap pile up on your TL especially when people start posting about it in big quantity is not helping at all. I'm tired of all of that cancel culture too. Supposedly I'm an evil person myself according to some groups of idiots on this platform. You get why people are tired of all of this cancel culture right? Why I have for the most part been avoiding social media and things like that once the drama starts rolling again... It's just exhausting...

I mean there is a difference between getting talked about like that unfairly or because you're someone like rms. When you get a bad grade in school unjustified you can also argue against that while still not taking it personal when someone else gets a bad grade justified. Of course it takes people to listen to think for themselves whether it's justified or not but I definitely wouldn't cancel you...

You can and should protest decisions that you think are wrong. However *a lot* of people have a very low bar of entry for this crap. Things like people getting canceled happens left and right at this point. And all of that gets bundled in together. People are tired of all the drama. Honestly speaking I have seen enough for many years to come.
