@sjw@neckbeard.xyz lol. You don't have to presage any censorship to question the value of Mozilla's VPN offering. From: https://www.zdnet.com/article/vpns-mozilla-just-added-these-new-feature-to-its-virtual-private-network/ > ...its VPN is based on the WireGuard protocol... WireGuard does not assign IP addressed dynamically, and stores user IP addresses on the VPN server indefinitely. So, I'd be rather sceptical about how "private" that VPN is until they've specifically addressed those technical issues. See also: https://restoreprivacy.com/vpn/wireguard/

@toiletpaper@shitposter.club Well they're just reselling Mullvad. They were one of the first to offer wireguard in prod. https://mullvad.net/it/help/why-wireguard/ They have a workaround for that and in addition also offer multi-hop for wireguard in case their solution isn't good enough. They're also the only VPN provider I'll recommend.
Why WireGuard?
An FAQ about why we recommend the WireGuard VPN protocol.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz Maybe it will help mainstream the use of VPN's. For the price though, I don't see the point of not just going with Mullvad directly since they cost the same and already offer those features without requiring use of a specific web browser.

@toiletpaper@shitposter.club They offer way more features. Ways to get around firewalls, P2P in all locations, and even accept cash payments in all currencies (either by mail or their dropbox). They don't even want to know your email address. Not to mention native GUI Linux client, their entire stack is open source. Hell, they even migrated all their servers to coreboot. https://mullvad.net/en/blog/2019/8/7/open-source-firmware-future/ They're good folks with a fetish for transparency.
Open-source firmware is the future
Today we are proud to announce the porting of coreboot, an open-source firmware, to the Supermicro X11SSH-TF server platform.
