Creating sub-microscopic amounts of elements in particle colliders isn't new, but these idiots believe CERN just discovered the Philosopher's Stone.

They're isotopes of gold as well. They only exist for a few days and are highly radioactive

*nanoseconds

No i double checked. There's 1 isotope that exists for nanoseconds. The rest of the isotopes exist for days. Ironically most isotopes devolve into mercury. The alchemists were accidentally correct in that regard.

The "gold" they produced was just the nuclei. It didn't have any electrons to stabilize it.

I went down this rabbithole at some point and I think my finding was that while it's quite possible, the amount of energy needed to do it negates any advantage. Asteroid mining on the other hand...

@Hoss@shitpost.cloud @cjd@pkteerium.xyz @Inginsub@clubcyberia.co @LordOfTheKangs@poa.st most Earth mining projects fail at the exploration stage, what makes anyone think space mining with its massively added overhead will ever be economically viable

Lots of exposed surface area, so you can just search for an asteroid you like and then roll up, grab it, and give it a push in the direction you want it to go...

@romin@shitposter.world @Hoss@shitpost.cloud @Inginsub@clubcyberia.co @LordOfTheKangs@poa.st @cjd@pkteerium.xyz if irl mining was anything close to what's portrayed in video games i'd already be rich from my miners lmao
