I heard about this back in the early 00s because I was looking for "good underground hip hop" and the people I talked to were often knowledgeable enough to tell me how mainstream rap had this gay/occult element to it, and these big tough gangsta thug rappers had to do gay shit to earn their fame and fortune. The search ended in the conclusion that even if underground hip hop was better ideologically or whatever, I still found all of it too coarse and egotistical.
