@captain_arepa@poa.st @sjw@neckbeard.xyz mainly monopoly, I think. no one can fight them.
But in their defense, how many people stream 4k youtube/netflix endlessly?
Could small ISPs handle that? I don't know.

replyReply to @[email protected]
@jkthghts@neckbeard.xyz @sjw@neckbeard.xyz Touché, but it actually boils down to the needs of the user. I mean, I wish I could have gigabit-speed internet in this shithole of a country, but given that I barely watch PoopTube, don't torrent that much anymore and am quite content with 720p vids, I can settle with something in the 20-100Mbps range. And most small ISPs can handle that traffic, even here.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz Noice. And it's cheap, too. ISPs in this shithole country are utter crap, and the "good", reliable ones are expensive AF for a shit speed (like $100 a month for 10Mbps). If I want to get good internet, then I'd have to move to a commuter city nearby, where I can get up to 300Mbps for like $80/mo.

Your New Sigma Furry Futa Waifu :verified:
[email protected] @grumbulon@shitposter.club Comcast has no way to tell if data going through my modem belongs to a device connected to Wi-Fi, ethernet or SPF. It's just data.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz [email protected] they obscure it, but Comcast still offers uncapped internet. You just have to pay $30 more a month. I "upgraded to an xFI Gateway" back in January when they rolled the change out, and that supposedly comes with a new box with new hardware and a bunch of useless features, and of course I'm still using the old box and nobody's even contacted me about my urgent hardware request--they just uncapped the data.
... is it a coincidence that my service was interrupted for 5min after I started writing this? I opened some xfinity.com pages to try and remember what that xFI thing was even called, so it really might not be.

The VPN is essential just so I can use their modem/access point as a backhaul between my main router and my edge router. I can then setup my network however I wish from there.
