When you put tariffs in place to protect your ''weaker'' car industry you basically incentivize domestic production, but it will raise the prices since you don't revitalize the sector overnight, same goes for the ship building industry for example, but putting tariffs on products that you don't actually produce or even literally can't produce will have a different outcome, like if you want coffee, but you can't even produce it and then also put tariffs on it you just made your coffee (for example) 50% more expensive, same goes for tea, the example below and any other product that you don't produce yourself, and next to that it's also basically a flat tax, meaning it's the same for everyone regardless of income or net worth, thus the rich will feel it a lot less than the average person will, yet they're gaslighting or even outright PsyOp'ing the public into believing that it's actually the other way around with the whole ''10% of Americans own the stocks'' thingy, it's all pretty disgusting really

Tariffing things you literally can't produce like coffee or cocoa is pretty retarded. On the flip side, I don't feel bad for consoomers who need a new iPhone every year paying more.
