I'll be worried when AI can pound a nail into a board with a hammer, use a table saw, and fill out a piece of paper all in the span of a couple minutes. Until then, I ain't scarred of no code busting up e-mail "jobs" for midwit middle managers.

@NecroHole@poa.st @nugger@poa.st There are robots that can do all of those things, have you seen how cars are made these days as just one example?

Robots in factories that are building the cars are in controlled environments that require tons of fine tuning and STILL make mistake. They are also doing the same task over and over and there is little room for any variance in their tasks. For example, if you take whatever robots and control systems that in factories right now and you tried to program it to frame a wall or hang up drywall it would fault constantly for one reason or another like "this 2x4 is warped, I was only programmed to deal with straight 2x4's" or "This framing stud is off a quarter inch but I'm going to keep installing screws through the drywall because that's what my program told me to do" People who say that robots will replace any sort of construction work have clearly never stepped foot in a factory and seen how they operate

ANYTHING ARTICULATED IS A FUCKIN NIGHTMARE TBH JUST KEEP SIMPLE LINEAR SLIDERS ON RAILS, PLUS ROTATION IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY AND DO ARTICULATION WITH A WORKER EVEN AN 80IQ WORKER HAS FINGIES AND CAN PUT A PART INTO THE WORKHOLDING MOST OF THE TIME

I GET WHY THEY USE THE ROBOT ARMS IN AUTOMOTIVE THOSE ARE BIG ASSEMBLIES THAT NEED TO MOVE AROUND AND TURN BUT I BET A LINE THAT USES MORE SLIDERS AND WORKERS WOULD ULTIMATELY END UP CHEAPER EVEN IF IT WOULD TAKE UP 10X FLOOR FOOTPRINT
