Women see a man that drives a station wagon the same way a man sees a woman with child bearing hips. Driving a station wagon is the most alpha thing you can do.

@graf@poa.st they came with diesels which makes it automatically cool to me

@creamqueen@poa.st for mileage? or upkeep? or torque?

@graf@poa.st just diesel is cool, I wish my wagon were a diesel but they're hard to come by. Thought about a Mercedes turbodiesel 5 cylinder swap but that's a whole lot of work

@graf@poa.st plus it's cleaner burning, better burning, and overall cool compared to gasoline engines

@creamqueen@poa.st diesel is king for upkeep because you're "burning" oil so all the seals and stuff are constantly lubed and the engine is just generally better kept overall but it's not usually practical because diesel is super torq-y (why I asked about your split driveshaft)
most torque ive ever seen out of a budget engine will always be the inline 5 engines they put in the f150

@creamqueen@poa.st @graf@poa.st been considering putting a diesel in my truck instead of an LS but there isn't much use for a diesel in a truck as small as mine

@graf@poa.st I wanna get a clean 240, either a sedan or wagon and get a diesel swap done to it. My wagon is eventually gonna be getting a Ford t5 trans in it since they align right with the stock volvo trans. The volvo manual transmissions are known the be really weak reliably. Adapter plates and kits are made for t5 swaps

@cocoa@neckbeard.xyz @graf@poa.st you also need to swap fuel tank and fuel lines, which is why it hasn't been done to my car

@creamqueen@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz I don't think I'd personally involve myself in a swap that wasnt like 80s or older at this point, esp not as a daily driver. whats your budget

@graf@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz I'm gonna be graduating school and becoming a diesel mechanic next year

@creamqueen@poa.st @graf@poa.st oh true, there were some 80's Rangers with diesels but they're ridiculously hard to find plus mine's two or three body styles newer

@graf@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz i have many dream cars, I want my perfect volvo but I think the car I'm really striving for is a Saab 900, preferably one that's been in South California its whole life and bone stock
creamqueen
replyReply to @[email protected]
@graf@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz reasons being that the car needs to be perfect, and California basically is great for perfect cars. They need to pass emissions and strict inspection

@creamqueen@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz so you're hank moody except saab instead of porche
i understand it tho, eventually i will build an el camino myself but i'm far too busy with this.
I quit my job a couple weeks ago to focus on this, my health and find some hobbies so maybe ill start looking for a decent chassis

@graf@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz I am probably gonna get my clean 240 wagon down south, it has to be a manual, doesn't matter what year/front end style. As long as it is EFI I'm fine. I'd like to have a turbo model but theyre easy cars to turbocharge

@graf@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz still working on my motor swap though. Ran into so many issues, and never have enough time. My setback now is driveshaft bolts, and I also have to time the flexplate with the motor as I found out

@creamqueen@poa.st @graf@poa.st @cocoa@neckbeard.xyz 900s are really cool. I think their weird snail-like profile is ingrained in me for playing with too much Playmobil as a kid. Peak late-80's/early-90's aesthetic.
Speaking of Saabs, there's a 9-5 from the last month of production for sale down the street from me. A real collectors item if only to own one of the last ones.
