The problem is now that you have someone at the helm of the fediverse using his instance's size to manipulate how people interact with the fediverse, acting as some de facto ruler of the place and deciding who gets to interact with who based on the rules of a few. This is not sustainable.

I suspect that this trend may not be driven by Graf himself: Poast has a decreasing number of users who are worth interacting with, and this means that people are more likely to feel comfortable burning that bridge. Even if I don't wish to burn that bridge, I do see why others will.

I figured there was no point in even seeing Poa.st anymore after I got defederated, so I blackholed their instance immediately after the fact. Now everything's quiet. Now, I'll take my licks but it's given me time to actually have hobbies that aren't mindlessly posting on the fediverse (given my significantly lowered post count, this is the explanation for that). But it's also given me time to think about the nature of the platform. One person decides your access to so many different viewpoints, conversations and ideas. It is somehow even more fucked than Twitter.

And, I never paid graf. But I made so much OC for him, I made his users laugh and I generally provided free entertainment to them because I liked them, I liked what he was doing (or thought I did) and I enjoyed my time there. But when even peemasons is getting fucking ousted, along with several long-time users, it's just fucked. The people who contributed, the people who paid the bills, were never actually appreciated or enjoyed. The only people that matter now are the ones still there. His spat with Mugicha when the topic of the mysterious donor came up proves that wholesale.

Its the conversation in general, people willing to have more than a surface level conversation are rare, and among the people I have interacted on fedi with very few prove themselves more than factional ideologs. It was fun, now its floating through a void.

I like Poast, but I'm a bit irked Owl was defeded, the comment s/he made was obvious banter. Not sure where I'd move too if I do though, I like Poast's UI best, another fren of mine (ProVlaii a Pagan fren who was also banned, while I admit he was going hard, His ban was blatantly hypocritical, I've had Christians say similar shit to me, and they're fine) was talking about that when I was suggesting other instances.

Poast is kind of like a one-size-fits-all glove, and eventually you notice better places *for you*, even if those places aren't better *for everyone else*.

It could, to your point of outside hobbies, In my time here I have learned to code, put 1000s of hours into drawing and digital art, I got into 3d printing, wrote a short book, and mapped the world.
