80 €urios are way too much for another doom with just a 22 levels long singleplayer campaign.

@maxmustermann@shitposter.world I've read raytracing is somewhat mandated. Regardless of that, I can think of a dozen things worth buying above ephemeral entertainment made by people who no longer love what they do.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.world Technical issues aside, 80 is way overpriced. That's 40% more expensive than big box PC games with a physical medium, manual and some knick-knacks in the late 90s.

@maxmustermann@shitposter.world I recall a thread that suggested Game Boy games were more expensive than what's on the Switch 2. I threw some quick numbers together and found that to be the case, using median and disposable incomes, adjusted for inflation. The face fiat value may have gone up but the intrinsic value of said fiat has gone down.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.world @maxmustermann@shitposter.world back in those days kids (unless they were rich) didn't have many games. It was all about renting or swapping carts around with other people

@romin@shitposter.world @thatbrickster@shitposter.world Lending vidya from your frens and getting them as big ticket gift for Christmas or Birthday. With that said, all arguments for digital fall flat on the face when prices blow up like that.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.world @romin@shitposter.world It wasn't even 30 years ago when this was common. Piracy on the PSX took some of that pressure off. Why lending from random creeps, when you could just burn a CD?

@romin@shitposter.world @thatbrickster@shitposter.world And that thing was on the market until like summer 2004. Now try Genesis and SNES :^). Don't forget the original Game Boy

@maxmustermann@shitposter.world @thatbrickster@shitposter.world I don't think many people were still playing psx on early 2000s when ps2 was already a thing, and those other consoles are even older

@romin@shitposter.world @thatbrickster@shitposter.world Oh you are very wrong about this one. Many people bet on Dreamcast, but enough to beat the PS2 and PS2 was expensive as hell when it came out. Sony offered therefor a cheap option in the form of the PS One. PSX game were floating around brand new or as old new stock in the early 2000s and stuck around in various second hand shops until 2012 when the speculation wave also got grip of that system and emptied the market of cheap 2nd hand games.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.world @maxmustermann@shitposter.world just gamble everything on poocoin

replyReply to @[email protected]
@romin@shitposter.world The only way to do this is by buying from others. Cryptocoin exchanges are effectively outlawed because the Financial Conduct Authority can't regulate it.

@thatbrickster@shitposter.world @maxmustermann@shitposter.world @romin@shitposter.world You're thinking of Centralized Exchanges (CEX). Using Decenetralized Exchanges (DEX) doesn't require KYC and is far more convenient.
Also poocoin is overrated, go all in on 🚀DooDooShartStablecoin🚀 instead.

@romin@shitposter.world @thatbrickster@shitposter.world As luck has it, I stumbled upon footage from the video section of a huge chain retailer. As you can see, Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox existed side by side with PSX in 2002. 128 system were expensive like a motherfucker. Full penetration was achieved around summer 2004 when Sony lowered the prices and people to scrooged out on standalone DVD players.

@dsm@fsebugoutzone.org @eris@fsebugoutzone.org @thatbrickster@shitposter.world $80 in 1990 != $80 in 2025
Also the suggested prices for AAA games where a tad lower just a few years ago.

@maxmustermann@shitposter.world @dsm@fsebugoutzone.org @eris@fsebugoutzone.org @thatbrickster@shitposter.world adjusted to average income a videogame should be 10 euros in eastern Europe but the reality is nobody can afford games there and they have to pirate or play free to play slop.
