Stuff like rick and morty is designed to be a comedy not a drama. They want an 8 season license to do whatever. Whereas Japan, you're probably only getting 1 season for your show so you need to make it count.

im watching gorilla-kami atm. the first couple eps were decent and made me want to watch to see where it was going. its gotten weaker as it continued so im guessing its gonna be season one and done.
