But the primary reason why whites aren't viewed in explicitly racial terms is because the concept of white identity itself has been very firmly deconstructed. Rather than seeing oneself as white and of european descent, many whites now view themselves in a toothless and deracinated way (and that's not because of some secret white supremacist plot).
