"It's a curious thing about our industry: not only do we not learn from our mistakes, we also don't learn from our successes." โ€“ Keith Braithwaite Seriously. A durable, upgradable, battery-swappable laptop with a bunch of ports, trackpoint, middle-mouse button, good keyboard, and LED lamp that can take advantage of at least *some* of the power efficiency and hardware decoding improvements of the past decade. That's it. That's all I need.

@Seirdy@pleroma.envs.net The T420 and T430 are basically interchangeable tbh. If you coreboot a T420 it supports ivy bridge CPUs and faster memory like the T430, me-cleaner does the same thing on both, you can install the classic keyboard on the T430, really the only meaningful difference is USB 3 on the T430. I'd probably just go with a T430 out of the two personally but there's near-zero difference.

@parity@social.xenofem.me @Seirdy@pleroma.envs.net Anything past Ivy, you might as well spring for a Ryzen tbh. No XP chipset drivers, no go
