@themilkman@shitposter.world @Curvin@poa.st Seeing the beta release for DMC 3 Crimson made me realize i still need to finish my DMD playthrough. My suffering aside, the games are great and definitely worth playing (just avoid 2 like the plague)

What is it about Devil May Cry 2 that makes people talk about it the way they do?

@Curvin@poa.st @themilkman@shitposter.world 2 was a failed experiment if that's a positive way to put it. It disregards all the good that 1 created as the foundation. You can't combo for shit in the game, all the air attacks have pathetically short and inconsistent hitboxes, even Stinger is an absolute joke in 2. Guns for some reason infinitely stagger enemies meaning theres no actual incentive to do anything but very slowly cheese them with E&I, all the bosses save for the final boss are absolutely boring to fight, Infested Tank and Chopper alone gives you a pretty good idea why this game sucks and to top it off Lucia is extremely boring to play despite being more functional than Dante. A shame though because Dante's design in 2 is great and I guess they TRIED to do something interesting with Devil Hearts but I never found any real use for them when I played it. TL;DR: game is objectively bad and not even bad in the funny way, its just boring. Don't even play it as a joke. Meanwhile, DMC 1 and especially 3 and 5 (4 is a mixed bag) are fantastic games that everyone needs to play at least once.
