What I’m finding is that there are just no good Fedi clients unless you use Mastodon lol

@admin@degenerates.fail for android Fedi for Pleroma is fantastic but it's bloated as fuck but it has a lot of missing features like threading so you can see where replies are going

@graf@poa.st - https://poa.st/users/graf Threading is what kills it for Pleroma even though it technically has full MastoAPI support. I don't know why Husky is the only one that's bothered with it.

@admin@degenerates.fail see pleromaFE has a setup like 4chan where you can see the OP and the direct replies to that etc soapbox is missing it so its just try to follow conversations and it can be confusing at times. i've only seen proper threading in husky and fedi for pleroma on android

@graf@poa.st - https://poa.st/users/graf Fedi App sucks on iOS too btw. I have the newest iPad mini and it can barely run. You'd think it would be better since one of the Pleroma devs sponsors it, but of course it isn't. Web design is good, so if you just want to open and stare at it it's fine I guess.

@graf@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail is pleromaFE hosted on Poast? Does it work on mobile browser?

@graf@poa.st @Wyatt@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail yeah the UI is the opposite of snappy. It’s floaty. Any recs on how to use pleromaFE? Which url hosting it? I tried the one at soykaf but couldn’t figure out how to log in via a diff instance account.

boscallian@poa.st@poa.st Wyatt@poa.st@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail pleromaFE is the default frontend of Pleroma. we use soapbox which overrides that, so unless I prevent others from using soapbox by reverting the entire thing to pleromafe there isnt an *easy* solution but I am working on it

@admin@degenerates.fail @graf@poa.st @Wyatt@poa.st @boscallian@poa.st I’m working on a cross platform app. https://gitlab.com/pirateradio/parrot I can get an apk to anyone that wants to see it on Android
pirateradio / Parrot · GitLab
Cross-platform mobile client for Pleroma written in react-native/expo w/ typescript. Specializes in a messenger-like interface for reading and replying to posts.

@graf@poa.st @Wyatt@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail my main desire is to have better threading in the UI. Convos are hard to track. If pleromaFE doesn’t solve that fully, then prob not worth it

@boscallian@poa.st @Wyatt@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail it's ordered the same way soapbox is but on pc you can hover over the 'in reply to' to see the original status. thats the only benefit besides the "Replies #2 #3 #4" links on the OP

@captain@pirateradio.social @admin@degenerates.fail Wyatt@poa.st@poa.st boscallian@poa.st@poa.st looks good but has a long, long way to go to be usable as a daily driver. you cant open notifications or read them beyond "x mentioned" or "X liked" you cant specify which timeline you want without having to go back to the hamburger menu, a lot of little gripes but its promising and i will keep an eye on it

@graf@poa.st @Wyatt@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail @boscallian@poa.st Thanks for giving it a whirl. I was able to get it to it's current state in about 3 weeks. I'm waiting on my second wind to finish it up. >cant specify which timeline you want without having to go back to the hamburger menu Can you elaborate on this? What would be preferred?

@captain@pirateradio.social Wyatt@poa.st@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail boscallian@poa.st@poa.st like on Husky on the navigation menu you can select home, local timeline or federated timeline easily. with this I have to select the hamburger menu, select the timeline i want and close it and go back to view a different one making it rather tedious to use

@graf@poa.st @Wyatt@poa.st @admin@degenerates.fail @boscallian@poa.st Both methods are two taps though since selecting a timeline brings you back to the home screen (or should, anyway)? I'll give it a think and see how often I get that feedback. Thank you!
