How does a decade old Mac work better than a PC that lasted 3 years? HP has not been kind to me. Even the one before the last (same brand) was a lot worse. Wouldn't even turn on! Never fucking with PC again unless I absolutely have to.

@WolfJay@poa.st because the mac was probably $1500 new the pc was probably like $500. i see a lot of people make this comparison without factoring in price and it's kinda stupid tbh. enterprise hardware is a lot more durable than a cheap walmart consoomer craptop. hp is also known as one of the worst computer brands. dell and supermicro are the only brands i use now

@AngryHortlerNoises@poa.st Yeah Macs are usually a grand+ and some still end up breaking. They're not godly, no, but my experience has been great. MacOS is much better and simpler to use than Windows 10 and the latter is bad no matter the computer you're using.

@WolfJay@poa.st i concur windows is hot garbage. i use linux on everything and isolate windows in a virtual machine if i want to use specific software

@AngryHortlerNoises@poa.st Heard more good than bad things about Linux. Also that setting it up pure hell but the reward is like none other? lmao.

@WolfJay@poa.st Macs are kinda designed to be broken / they haven't fixed some problems with the board that have existed for years but I personally have never had a HDD fail on a personal laptop or on a desktop. The Windows itself can break if you have like 3rd party antivirus and that happens very often as used to fix computers like that as a job. Hardware wise there isn't much of a difference but with Windows installing 3rd party crap antiviruses or anything like that can cause some major issues out of the blue. Linux on the other hand is really easy to install nowadays due the setup process is pretty straightforward but usually have to ask yourself if it's worth it if you have programs on Windows for example that you wouldn't be able to run on Linux at all and personally I still don't like Linux distros on desktops but servers always been perfect.

@WolfJay@poa.st Unlucky experiences in the end I suppose with HP and the previous manufacturers that have had as usually if it wouldn't turn on at all then it would indicate for example the RAM failing or not being detected properly anymore. Old Windows laptops overall were built like garbage such as having overheating issues from anything.
