Why do journos talk about freedom of speech and freedom of the press as if these are opposite things? AFAIK they're covered by the same ammendment. It seems like a malevolent trick to undermine both.

It is. Slogans like, "freedom for us established members of society, but not those heckin' right-wing racists spouting misinformation and hate speech," and "freedom of speech, but not freedom from consequences" are proofs of this.

It doesn't help that the average person now has the memory of a goldship, pouring their duty to remember on major sites they presume will be there tomorrow.
