I don't understand why Ghibli, a style supposed to be soft and beautiful, is being imitated to depict tiring politics and disgusting things. Do we truly live in a world with few souls?

@bleedingphoenix@wolfgirl.bar its the same reason the "Pixar style" stuff was a meme a while back.
It's funny to shove internet memes and famous images through an anime filter. It's also an easy style to prompt.

@PurpCat@clubcyberia.co according to some "AI artists" it's much more important than that

@bleedingphoenix@wolfgirl.bar a lot of people doing it find it funny to depict memes or ecelebs in anime style that's just what I've noticed

It's a shitty meme. A bunch of people found AI art and used it to "create" the most boring thing imaginable. It's not surprising in the least that they'd turn the beautiful ugly.
The Vance thing is leagues better; people actually had to photoshop him themselves.

I love you guys but I don't understand the weeb thing where there's some kind of sanctity to anime.

@Robert_Edwardly@poa.st @wgiwf@poa.st this goes for all AI art, personally. this stuff is a disgusting avenue for people with no soul to create.

@theorytoe@ak.kyaruc.moe it's definitely getting unpleasant even on fedi. there are still refuges on the internet but they're getting harder to find (by design).

@PurpCat@clubcyberia.co i've seen it used on youtube thumbnails already too

Miyazaki frequently has hordes of people dying in his works. Often brutally.

@BiggusDiccus@poa.st I'm aware, I've watched Castle in the Sky and am reading Nausicaa. it's not like Rick & Morty, though. there is a distinct difference between painting harsh realities against optimistic tones and themes versus just reveling in ugly things.
