@cadence@is.badat.dev @queerloser@pl.devfs.xyz I'm only halfway through 1984, when do I get to the bit where a trans woman asks people to respect her pronouns?

thornAvery - https://is.badat.dev/users/thornAvery cadence - https://is.badat.dev/users/cadence queerloser - https://pl.devfs.xyz/users/queerloser he skipped the downfall of society and went straight into the dystopia, there *is* however a part where speech is compelled, so there's that.Let me just ask, if a trans person calls a cis man a "wimpy little girl" is that a violent use of language? Should this person be jailed or fined? That's basically what you're asking for if you trust any government to stay within reasonable limits of the law... I'm surprised people really trust their governments this much :thinking_cirno:

queer loser My favorite take was the person who pointed out that "[people who object to rms being kicked out for social rather than technical reasons neglect to notice that rms kept LLVM out of GNU for social rather than technical reasons]".
queer loser First LLVM wasn't allowed into the gcc project for technical reasons, so they never adopted the GPL (but would have if they had been accepted). https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTU4MzE Then when LLVM was developed further and became (arguably) technically superior to gcc they were considered an adversary and a threat because they weren't copyleft, so GNU tools weren't allowed to interoperate with LLVM. https://lwn.net/Articles/582242/
Apple being involved is a huge social and political factor, as they have been an adversary since the NeXT days when they tried to failed to keep Objective-C proprietary and still build on gcc.
@queerloser@pl.devfs.xyz "Everything is political; our politics. Therefor struggle sessions, nepotism and sabotage are OK" How about no?
Moon queer loser rms is a great evangelist and orator, but not a person you want in a manager position. I have met people who have worked with him and multiple people have said so. Not a single one has said the opposite, that he was doing a good job managing the FSF and GNU and that he should be the one doing it. People try to frame this as an external attack by corporate open source people or people who have bureaucracy as their own and it's so far from the truth. The real-life rms has been shielded by the rms of legend and the personality cult around him for a long time, but the legend isn't as strong these days.
He's making FSF look bad, it's harming free software and that's it. It is technically incorrect to say that he defended pedophilia, that's the lie that I see and I'm disappointed that it's there in the appendix, but a lot of people let out a sigh of relief when he resigned and there has been no explanation why he is suddenly back. People who presented at LibrePlanet have said they wouldn't have done so had they known in advance. People who recently renewed their membership have canceled. The FSF had the chance to enter a new era and they blew it, it's only downhill from here.

Moon @clacke@libranet.de @queerloser@pl.devfs.xyz don't concede irrelevant points. if this were about rms being "hard to work with", then those would be the charges levied against him. but it's not because it's bullshit.
