The White House's official statement is that this is just an optical illusion and not a greenscreen.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz The secondary video of this event actually looks fine, so the question is how did thehill fuck up this video so badly and why is the whitehouse covering for them. 🤔
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz It's clearly not a greenscreen. It would make no sense to key the microphones on top of Biden's body, but below his hand.

@yellowbeard@queenlainsrevenge.xyz So the microphones aren't chroma keyed but the microphones are just really big and Biden is really small?
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz My guess is that it's something like the dolly zoom effect, but I haven't even looked at the alternate angle yet because it felt like a red herring when I first saw it. I just thought, "why the hell would they key the mics to be over his body, but then key his hands to be back over the mics". If it was a green screen, then it was done intentionally badly to get a response (because it would take more work to make this effect the way it is). If it was done purposefully to get a response, then I also don't want to give a big reaction, because I don't know why they would want that. I'll see if I can find the alternate angle that was mentioned, and maybe it will shed some light.
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz is this the secondary video you were talking about [email protected]? https://twitter.com/i/status/1372053858332123137 Annoyed that I had to read the condescending ramblings of lefty retards just to find this stupid thing. Until I know that this is the only other angle, I'll just say that yes, a broadcast level deadcat cover on a boom mic is absolutely way bigger than your average stage microphone. So, that one in particular, looks like an up close, regular sized boom microphone that you'd see on a college short film, but it is actually a big ass deadcat that is off to the right of (and slightly behind) the corpse. The camera is to his left.

@yellowbeard@queenlainsrevenge.xyz >If it was a green screen, then it was done intentionally badly to get a response (because it would take more work to make this effect the way it is). That's where you're wrong kiddo. Maybe just basic chroma key but there's more going on here than that. Looks like some kind of automation fucked up and that didn't catch it. The colouring on the mics doesn't match and they were keyed pretty shit. A lot of video editors can automatically cut something out based on relative context and that's what looks like happened to Biden. It really looks like it was done by someone who had no idea what they were doing and they kind of just figured it out and it was signed off on without actually having been checked.
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz >That's where you're wrong kiddo You have some actual experience with video editing or is this just some shit that you read about? >A lot of video editors can automatically cut something out based on relative context and that's what looks like happened to Biden. lol, no it doesn't. This is not an effect i have ever seen on something like that. Even if it was automated in some way, it wouldn't make any sense for it to act like this. >The colouring on the mics doesn't match and they were keyed pretty shit. I'm pretty sure this is mostly due to the deadcat. It definitely looks weird. It obviously looks weird as fuck, and the condescending retards on the Biden side of the debate (who don't actually know what they're talking about, but have their heads shoved so far up their asses that they'd never understand this) aren't making it any better. The smug condescension of hivemind midwits is really annoying to witness. They think they understand things, but they don't. Even in the tweet that I linked, the person says it's "video distortion". It's not that either, retard. It's a fucking weird looking clip, but so far, none of the snap explanations on either side make any sense. Reminds me of that picture of the cop that looked like he was pointing a beanbag gun at a little kid on his dad's shoulders. I just don't care enough to sketch this one out in paint.

I just don't care enough to sketch this one out in paint. That's perspective. This isn't a matter of perspective or some kind of lense distortion. If you disagree I challenge you to place a sheet of paper on a table, place a penny on top of it, and without touching anything find an angle or a lense that makes the penny appear underneath the paper.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz there are like a million things wrong with this video lmao
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz >Yes I do Very little, it seems. >The fact that you're calling it an "effect" The "effect" being his body behind the mics with his hand in front of them. Not "effect" as in "effects and presets". >This isn't a matter of perspective You sure about that? >place a penny on top of it, and without touching anything find an angle or a lense that makes the penny appear underneath the paper. That's retarded. That lacks any depth. I could do it with an action figure or something. I could find and angle where the arm is over something that your brain is telling you is in the foreground. You are not explaining why in the hell his body would be behind the mics but his hand in front. It makes no sense, and AuToMaTiOn isn't an answer.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz these weren't mics, these were social distancing ticklers put by the secret service so Biden wouldn't trample the laptops of the remote working periodists. @yellowbeard@queenlainsrevenge.xyz
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz >How so? Physical depth. A piece of paper and a penny are both flat and the penny is lying directly on top of the paper. I'll make this simpler. Here's a picture with three layers. Go ahead and put Shia LeBouf's hand over the microphones, while keeping his body behind them, without creating a new layer. If you have to make a new layer, explain why that would happen in your "green screen" scenario.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz In your proposed scenario, Biden was somewhere else on a greenscreen or something like that, so his body in that video would be on one layer. Then you have the background layer (That park area with grass, road, trees, vehicle, person walking, etc), then the mics are added in for effect. That's what my file represents. The alternative would be that the mics are part of the background layer and there are only two layers, with Biden being one of them. Somehow, through an unexplained automation process, Bidens body was put behind the mics, but his hand was left untouched. It would be insane to imagine that any ML algorithm would prioritize a torso over hand movement when it comes to keying, which is why the 2-layer scenario is even more implausible than the 3-layer scenario.

@sjw@neckbeard.xyz How many layers do you reckon, and why? The only thing you've said is that it was automation and some junior staffer or something didn't know what they were doing. I don't think you can actually explain what you think is happening other than "some programs do something like this automatically". I have spent thousands of hours manually doing the thing that these programs now do automatically. I'm pretty familiar with how the processes work.

@yellowbeard@queenlainsrevenge.xyz > I'm pretty familiar with how the processes work. Ever done rotoscoping? It's pretty much like that but automated and can be pretty janky. The software likely got confused and thought the mics were in the background and Biden's arm was in the foreground due to the perspective of the mics and the contrast between the hands, suit, and mics.

@icedquinn@blob.cat @ivesen@miniwa.moe Yeah that's just him having white hair and the sky being blown out.
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz >Ever done rotoscoping? Yes, and it works like shit. It's not like in the YouTube tutorial videos. Rotoscoping is a pain in the ass and to automate it would have looked so bad that it would have captured noticeable chunks of the pavement and grass. >mics were in the background and Biden's arm was in the foreground But his body is also there, and it's behind the mics. That would have to be different layers. If it thought the mics were background, it would put them behind his body too, because the contrast between his body and the zero alpha channel around it would be such a high contrast and would stand out so much that you would basically have to go in and edit things by hand to put his hand over the mics with his body behind them.

@yellowbeard@queenlainsrevenge.xyz >and to automate it would have looked so bad that it would have captured noticeable chunks of the pavement and grass. Yeah, I suppose it has gotten better but it's still pretty janky. Used to be like that. >But his body is also there, and it's behind the mics. Correct. It's obvious to us but this is a whole field of computer science. Not necessarily obvious to an algorithm doing it. >That would have to be different layers. Yes but it's not like a person is creating all the layers. >If it thought the mics were background, it would put them behind his body too I seriously doubt they're using a neural network to do this. It's just an algorithm. It doesn't know that. Image reconstruction is hard yo. >because the contrast between his body and the zero alpha channel around it would be such a high contrast and would stand out so much that you would basically have to go in and edit things by hand to put his hand over the mics with his body behind them. Do you not see how fucking different in contrast his hand is from his suit? His hands are also moving differently relative to his body whereas the mics are just single solid entities moving. Likely thought the hands were a different entity from the body. Could tell the sleeves were connected to the hands but likely didn't know the sleeves connected the body and it was a single entity. Image/pattern reconstruction is hard yo. If you think that's dumb and it'd be easy to make software see "obviously this is a person so it's a single layer" then I look forward to paying for your software because you'll have some of the best in the industry and be on the cutting edge of pattern reconstruction. You could easily become a billionaire. That is if it is indeed as easy as you seem to think it is.

@yellowbeard@queenlainsrevenge.xyz They were two separate source videos. Colouring on the mics doesn't match, resolution is kind of weird, etc. My guess is Biden was shot on location and the mics were added in post. That's what it really looks like. However, it could be that Biden was greenscreened too. Mics were definitely greenscreened tho.
Your New Sigma Furry Futa Waifu :verified:
[email protected] This is what I was trying to say. Mics look greenscreened tho.
@sjw@neckbeard.xyz so, the mics were added to make it look like real press were there, but they weren't? What would be the point? The whole green screen theory is that he's in a basement somewhere. If you're gonna shoot him on location, why not just have the press there? If you're adding in the mics why would you do any sort of rotoscoping shit? Just key out the mics and put them on top of the video. Doesn't make any sense. The color doesn't really look off on the mics, but that dead cat does look really blurry. I'm thinking that has something to do with video compression turning a crazy number of little hairs into a blur.
