lapin Idk, if I'm being completely honest I'm still not sure how the whole instance thing works, I just keep it in public timeline and reply to the stuff that appears or the stuff I'm mentioned on.
I'd say it works well, don't need to see a dude saying nigger every 2 messages nor do I see any traps, so works for me :cat_blush:

imagine email. someone from yahoo can still interact with someone from another website entirely, like for instance gmail or protonmail

lapin I kinda get that, my understanding for now is:
Every instance is like a new webpage/mail when you post public it goes to all timelines, and so everyone who is checking there can see, I'm more confused about stuff like why does every instance require a different account? my only guess is bc the mods from one instance may want to ban someone but the ones from another may be fine with what the person says I guess.
But yeah I'd much rather stay looking at varis', lots of familiar faces, plenty of cunny and less dumb or nutjob shit

lapin also that's why I didn't know if I was talking to someone from a different instance, prob someone from here mentioned them and I just followed the convo, don't really check where they're from most of the time

@julian398a@varishangout.net @lapin@varishangout.net People from different instances can talk to each other. Each instance requires its own account because when you log in you're going to your "home" instance -- it's like logging into Gmail vs. Protonmail. You can still follow people from other instances with a "remote follow" (or alternately click to them from the Known Network timeline, which loads their profile in your home instance's client).
