Super Eyepatch Wolf is a shitlib, but he's not a liar or a sellout, and I enjoy his videos greatly. This vid convinced me to give Giant Bomb another look, though I still prefer to get my vidya reviews from the Fediverse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VimyIO8Zir4

@noyoushutthefuckupdad@shitposter.world oh, I watched that one randomly while playing Balatro I'm still heavily against game journos and I don't trust shitlibs opinions on stuff and sooner rather than later there'll be a circle jerk over hating fanservice or some shit and I don't need to see this again
@coolboymew@shitposter.world I'll listen to the newest Giant Bomb podcast at work tonight and see if it's any good. I'm still bitter about my own forays into video games journalism 10-13 years ago being total failures. maybe I should have been more stubborn, like Jeff Gerstman.

@coolboymew@shitposter.world @noyoushutthefuckupdad@shitposter.world I think we're way past the point of giving game journos second chances, the current crop of sites and journos need to be completely purged.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad@shitposter.world Honestly, probably for the best considering how you'd have to be in shitlibs areas, constantly have contacts with them, and considering how much the industry sucks ass nowadays Game Journo should be a temp job in most cases or something reserved to the very best and passionate, which in the end just turned into major burnouts that fucking hated their jobs who were journo failures and had nowhere else to go, what a miserable state of affairs. They more or less destroyed their own field in the end
@coolboymew@shitposter.world yeah, I was starting to resent video games as a whole because I associated them with the worst shitlibs on the internet. Gamergate in 2014 only increased my stress and turned (what I thought were) friends against me. so it's a good thing I quit that shithole industry and got a regular job with steady pay.

@coolboymew@shitposter.world @noyoushutthefuckupdad@shitposter.world There was indeed a brief phase in the 90s and early 2000s when various small-time genuine reviewing websites popped up, mostly made of nerds loving their craft. Of course, they begun disappearing when the Internet went too corporate and I couldn't suffer anymore the more "professional" crop of journalists. This was before the gamergate, btw
I listened to this. standard "dirtbag left" stuff: porn good, drugs good, Bluesky good, Joe Rogan bad, MAGA hats bad. it was mildly amusing, but I doubt I'll listen to any more. I have too many audiobooks I want to hear.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad@shitposter.world The funniest thing is that the origin of the term "dirtbag left" was by the members of the somethingawful forums, whom they used to self-identify. Apparently, back in the 2000s, they thought this was something cool to go for, as they attempted to rid the Internet of users they deemed undesirable. They were the reddit before the reddit, and a good chunk of 2000s leftist takes came from that forum. It wasn't long before imageboards completely overshadowed them. Nowadays, their forum is locked behind a paywall. But, when they forget and you can peer a bit inside, it's all takes against Bernie and their own party, and this was but before last november. Can't image how they must be fuming now
This is one of the podcasts that Super Highpoz Barf recommended. absolute AIDS. https://spawnon.me/

@PodunkPotato@nicecrew.digital @noyoushutthefuckupdad@shitposter.world It does, most of the alternative rock and nu metal scenes were populated by those bro culture millennial types. It didn't start to decline until "obummer" sent their dreams and hopes down the drain, yet many of them are still mentally stuck in the early 2000s, worse in that regard than their boomer parents they so hard criticize
