Show your age: > first PC had 4mb RAM and a 10mb HD running MS-DOS > mostly played Apogee sharewares downloaded from BBS > but didn't get first console til about 5 years later (SNES) > late start to WWW; first experiences with Internet culture (before "meme" was a word) were StickDeath, Tourettes Guy, Joe Cartoon, Salad Fingers, and "fuck bin laden kill all muslims!" > "social media" of choice was MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL Messenger, and phpbb forums. loved "h4king" with yahoo booters and msn chat screen blanking and fake ban messages

@cowanon@shitposter.club My first computer was a second hand Sharp laptop with 512KB of RAM, a 40MB HDD, Black and white screen with no/broken backlight, a dead SLA battery, and it ran Novell DOS 7. I mostly used it to play Commander Keen, write up school work in GEOS 2.0 and print it on my dotmatrix printer. As for internet, we had dial-up, but my parents wouldn't let me use it so I had to walk to the library and use the computers there. IIRC I mostly just used it for downloading music and looking at MythBusters fan websites on GeoCities. Can't really remember what else I did. I'm not actually that old, that's just what people were giving away for free so that's what I used.

@cowanon@shitposter.club Not long after that Dad bought be a second hand P3 desktop with 256MB of RAM and 40GB HDD. I installed Windows XP pro SP1 with the well known serial: FCKGW-RHQQ2-YXRKT-8TG6W-2B7Q8 which I can still recite off the top of my head thanks to how many times I broke my install and had to reload XP.

@cowanon@shitposter.club Yeah, I still play it in DOSBox on the odd occasion. Mostly CK 2, but we also had the trial of 4. Good memories.
