The latter for sure at least. Asian feminism is weird and incredibly frustrating, with anti-feminism carrying more of a tone of actual woman hatred. I've been called a feminist for arguing pro-family, anti-porn, anti-prostitution positions on Japanese social media. The idea of women being objects is very much a real thing, and they are not regarded as daughters and mothers should be at all. I suspect this is somehow connected to the massive percentage of unmarried Japanese Gen X, but there's literally no data available that looks at the issue from a nationalist / pro-social perspective. I just can't tell if this is a symptom of western influence, or if they've always been like this. There are cultural phenomena such as yobai which suggest women have always been the town bicycle, so... I'm usually in the camp of "leave them the fuck alone", but... Japs need Jesus tbh.
