When Torba got up on his high horse about banning Loli, it was actually remarkable just how many of the best and most interesting users this drove away, most of them not even Lolicons, but free speech enthusiasts, edgelords, lewdposters and the like. Meanwhile, all of Gab's worst posters (the braindead Boomer Good Morning posters who between them couldn't make an interesting post if given 10 000 years to do so, the unreformed Pieville-tier Nazis etc) loved the ban. It ruined Gab's community and set the stage for all subsequent negative changes.As for Lolicon itself - it's just fucking drawings. I advocate for the Wild West Internet, not the "How old is that anime girl?!" Reddit Internet. Is there overlap between Lolicons and actual Pedos? Sure. Is there a perfect or near-perfect overlap? I'm not remotely convinced that there is, I've come across way too many Lolicons who I'd consider reliably anti-pedo for that to be the case. Hell, from what I recall varishangout will actively purge users who are suspected of being into real kids, or who just come across as "Sus". So when I'm dealing with Lolicons who I feel convinced are on the level, I'm not gonna hold their taste in Drawings against them. Especially since said drawings otherwise act as a great Filter against undesirables and is one of the frontline online free speech battles. I'm *happy* that the kind of people who obsess about the canonical ages of fully developed anime girls, or who claim that liking petite women is pedo, or who insist 30 year old man + 18 year old woman is pedo currently get stuck in the trench warfare of the Loli Question on Fedi, instead of being able to advance their various retarded crusade - none of which have anything to do with protecting actual children.And for the record, I'd take the rightwing Fedi cunny communities over the obsessively anti-Loli communities in a heartbeat. This is not a hard call or a dilemma for me, not even close.
