@tlapka@ak.kawen.space oh whoa you stream on not-twitch that's so cool! is it hardware-expensive to run that kind of service? i'd be interested in trying something like that out but i'm always shy about using other ppls bandwidth or something haha

@knit@fedi.tilde.green hmm we host on Karen's server which is a little beefier but it does have other services on it besides owncast so I'd say it's like somewhat more hardware intensive, it requires some power, but not like impossible to host the distance and internet connection ends up mattering a lot more, people outside of Europe or even people within with bad connection have unreliable playback quality because there's no expensive twitch magic with servers around the globe going on behind the scenes
