I started playing a Warhammer 40K Dark Heresy campaign last night (in Dark Heresy the players are conscripts working for an Inquisitor, investigating possible heresy and shit like that). Since my friends already jumped in front of me and picked the cool stuff like Sanctioned Psyker and Adeptus Mechanicus, I decided to go full homo and play an Adepta Sororitas, so I can keep screaming about my devotion to the Emperor while cleansing everything with holy fire. Behold Agnena Dread, Annointed Daughter of the Scarlet Chainsword (I got this name and title from a 40k name generator). And people say AI can't be used for good.

@Suzu@varishangout.net warhammer is good but 40k is poop

@dick@cawfee.club for a roleplay standpoint, I think 40k is pretty interesting when you explore scenarios like this Dark Heresy one. It sucks when you are playing the overpowered Space Marines stuff, that is better left for the wargame.
@Suzu@varishangout.net @dick@cawfee.club The life expectancy of an Imperial Guardsmen on the frontline is 15 hours. Hopefully you all survive your first day on the job

@supersid333@varishangout.net @dick@cawfee.club yes, that's why I said scenarios like Dark Heresy are cool for RPG. Shit like the wars on the frontlines are better left for the wargame, I can't understand how people play a campaign in these. In Dark Heresy you play inside the Imperium, far away from the war, and you deal with the mundane problems of cultists and whatnot. It's pretty cool. And yes, it's still pretty deadly. Right at the first session our Psyker destroyed a Chaos artifact and the blast gave Corruption points to everyone (I got Insanity instead, because the Adepta Sororitas special power is not getting corrupted and gaining Insanity in place of it).

@dick@cawfee.club yeah, I got it. IDK, I tried looking at the Warhammer Fantasy RPGs (those ones where you play as rat catchers and shit like that), and IDK if I would be willing to play a campaign in it, TBH.

@Suzu@varishangout.net Next time make her a loli

@nepfag@varishangout.net I laready played a loli on a very longwinded 13th Age campaign we did with the same group years ago, didn't want to do a repeat. Plus, I got away with it in 13th Age because the character was basically a loli lich, the DM would never let me play as a loli in Warhammer 40k. Here is a sketch a friend did of the 13th Age group, btw. Behind her is her skeleton butler named Richmond.
@Suzu@varishangout.net @dick@cawfee.club I say that to highlight how deadly the setting is. Obviously you're not fighting on battlefield scale, but the high casualty rate against the enemy of the Imperium scales down proportional to smaller encounters. Chaos Cultists and Genestealer Cults can be spooky

@supersid333@varishangout.net @dick@cawfee.club yeah. That's why character generation is relatively simple and quick, tbh.
