@pasture@pl.gamers.exposed @graf@poa.st ah sorry default scope
------
it's all the pozzed VPS providers
they will cancel you for saying the n word.
these are not free speech options. i think it's important to make that clear to people signing up

@meowski@fluf.club @graf@poa.st i have said this before and i will say this again. i think this threat you and others speak of is overblown. no one is reporting you to your host to get you taken down, and your host is not going to all of a sudden investigate you for what you're hosting. your real enemies would rather have you on a fediblock list because that gets them more asspats. the target audience is small or single-user instances.
and it's not even some shitty opinion I'm trying to propagate. I've added everyone that has reasonable prices (ionos is so far out that I can't even believe people use them) that has a provisioning API. tell a non-"pozzed" host to set up an API or link me to one and I will very gladly add it to the site.
i am explicitly not writing about frozen peaches on the site either, as that makes people sensitive and i'm trying to be as neutral as humanly possible.

>no one is reporting you to your host to get you taken down
obviously i assumed this would be the response. but to be totally clear, all it takes is one or a very few reports to any of those providers and your instance WILL be shut down.
that's all i'm saying.
frantech is the only VPS host i currently know of that is not known to terminate accounts for legal speech
they may have limited space available though.
neutrality is sort of a subjective idea here when these hosts are anything but neutral- they all lean extremely toward a certain end of the spectrum.
so failing to point that out, idk if that's really neutral. but this is your thing- i was just pointing out since most of poa.st tends to say things that any of these hosts would find objectionable

@meowski@fluf.club @pasture@pl.gamers.exposed you know this is open to others not just my instance yeah?

@graf@poa.st @pasture@pl.gamers.exposed
i already know about fediverse.express yeah. i think it's a great idea.
the only reason i mentioned the VPS options was beacuse many/most of your users would be terminated after one complaint to the provider.
if people are going to the trouble of setting up an instance they should consider finding a platform that is not inherently hostile to their ideology

@meowski@fluf.club @pasture@pl.gamers.exposed you're still stuck on assuming itll be one of my users and not someone say, on twitter. or any other instance in the fediverse
you should try not immediately posturing negatively

@meowski@fluf.club @graf@poa.st these companies want your money first. the only reason why parler got taken down is because of the PR disaster that it was. i reported someone to linode for legitimately being a shitter (sending fake "vulnerability reports" to my abuse@) and they did nothing.

@graf@poa.st @pasture@pl.gamers.exposed @meowski@fluf.club most companies do this, its an automated procedure for the most part.
Our abuse email just scums IPs from the complaint, opens an abuse ticket with the customer(s) associated with the IP(s) and lets the customer self-handle (I think there's manual intervention for repeats)

@meowski@fluf.club @pasture@pl.gamers.exposed @graf@poa.st There's no reason fediverse.express couldn't be expanded to work with, say, Epik for example. Or even self-hosted Proxmox.

@alex@gleasonator.com @meowski@fluf.club @graf@poa.st the *only* reason why it doesn't currently is because these providers do not offer automated provisioning.
now that my interview is done i plan on investigating bringing your own server, but that will come at a cost of easier setup.

@pasture@pl.gamers.exposed @meowski@fluf.club @graf@poa.st It depends on your scale. If you're hosting a small circle for you and your friends, there's almost no risk of being booted off.
If you've got a medium sized platform, you've got a moderate risk of getting thrown out of the building when some janny tranny gets wind of it.
If your userbase grows large or money/business gets involved, you WILL be nuked from orbit within a month.

When the actual fuck did I say that I "align" with big tech? Do not mischaracterize my words. My beliefs are not rocket science.
I literally told you the reasons why the providers on the page are there. It is only because they provide automated provisioning. This isn't a GNU/Jihad. I'm not going to remove instances from the page because they are "pozzed". Part of being neutral is providing choice. I do not tell you that you must set up an instance with fediverse.express. I let you know your options, and if you do not want to use these providers, you do not have to.
The goal of fediverse.express is to get *everyone on the fediverse* on their own instance, even the mastodonts that want to block anyone who dares question them. Clearly "free speech" is a political issue (even though I entirely disagree with those against it) so I do not want to bring it up and lock out people who have problems with idea.
Again, show me a provider that has automated provisioning, is not already on the list, and is not "pozzed." I will be more than happy to add them and will even make it my first priority.

congratulations @MistakeNot@poa.st it appears you have won, @pasture@poa.st has a prepaid card for you to use when setting up an instance with fediverse.express. you will need a domain or subdomain, so if you do not have one or will not purchase one (domcomp.com is good for choosing cheap TLDs) you can use freedns.afraid.org, they have a [registry of open domain names](https://freedns.afraid.org/domain/registry/) you can use for your own subdomain
