well this works as great advertisement for whatever protective equipment he was wearing.
seems like the metal sheet is what caused the short circuit, guy either accidentally tapped a place he shouldn't have with it or worse there was an arc which would be fucking scary

On a different note, the chief of maintenance at the Campus where I worked told me that there were only around a dozen or so transformers like the ones we had in the entire US ready to be delivered at any given time. I asked him what would happen if we had a catastrophic transformer failure of multiple units, and he said we would need to get the Governor to send in the National Guard.
Imagine what would happen to a place like Chicago or NYC if you had a few dozen of them all fail simultaneously.

@LudditeMan@poa.st @Jewpacabra@poa.st @Wormwood@poa.st you'd be surprised at how easy it is to turn a working system into a mass casualty specially when it comes to electricity.
transformers specially scare the living shit out of me

I was working at Norton AFB and we had around 10 inches of water in the transformer room that they needed pumped out.
Yeah, THAT was pretty fucked-up.

@LudditeMan@poa.st @Jewpacabra@poa.st @Wormwood@poa.st man that's horrible luckily i have never been around when bad shit happens but i've gotten a few close calls through no fault of my own
this time i was checking a ups and the first thing i noticed just as soon as i lay a finger on the case of the thing is "what the fuck why am i feeling electricity? IT'S THE FUCKING CASE"
turns out the thing wasn't properly grounded so part of the voltage was travelling through the entire external case
